Default Salvaging runes from armor

I've been playing for a long time, and after taking a small hiatus came back to play my old W/Mo.

Having worn that full knights for so long had gotten a bit tiresome, so I decided I'd get myself something new, just for kicks. So I buy my new suit, and start salvaging my old one. For some reason I had assumed that armor runes would salvage 100% as they do from drops. Once it failed I remembered just how wrong I was.

Now, I'm not going to bitch and moan about the rune I lost. Lets just say I got this rune way way way before it had ever gone up to 100K at the vendor.

Anywho, my point is, is there any reason why you can't be guaranteed to salvage a rune you already have on your armor? I can't think of a single reason why this needs to be this way, when I can safely guarantee getting it out of a drop.

Unless someone can think up a good reason why it should remain this way, I'd like to suggest this be changed. I would like to be able to slavage my rune from my own armor at a 100% success rate.

it is a gold sink to keep the game from simply recirculating runes.

new come in and some older get destroyed.

you have at least a chance of getting it back and be happy that you get the first one 100%.

before that nice little change i got a very big pile of salvage for the one and only superior vigor i have received.

Bump.

Was swapping my 1.5k drok armor to 15k armor, bought superior absorb and vigor (had both major in old), and thought the runes were just 'not there' when salvaging (I had tried that ~months ago, with sucky results).. but yesterday when I did it on two armor parts I had. I was all 'ooh, they have fixed this?', my old major vigor and major absorb were salvaged. Well all the extra gold for me, turned out that I needed that extra (spent all I had on the 15k armor + sup absorb), and tried upgrading my axe too. My fiery axe of fortitude turned to planks. Grrrr! So I bought a new fortitude grip (I know, I might have gotten the fiery upgrade instead, but planks? Geez..)

But the point. Today, I got to second thoughts about my helmet, had superior axe mastery there, thinking I'd get the rune back just like I got those two yesterday, and salvaged... 3 steel ingots. Then hitting head to the wall as I can't afford a new rune and new helmet.. must go farm agaaain ;-;

It's called a gold sink, leave it the way it is.

Nooooo.

Actually, it's fine with me if the runes are lost. It's fine with me if they pop out. Should be consistant imo, and not a some lucky roll of a dice. Either no runes out ever, or always. Is there anywhere said (officially, ie manual or Anet's website) that it's some chance to get the rune back? By 'just playing', one would think the rune comes out of your own armor as well, as it did from the mob's.

Maybe slap in a 'Trying to salvage a rune from this armor might/will not succeed, do you want to continue? yes/no' popup, that you can tick as 'never show again' when trying to salvage the rune from your own armor.
